Buffered operational amplifier eliminates the complexity of DAQ front-end measurement

Texas Instruments BUF802 buffer operational amplifier. The device exponentially increases the signal bandwidth of data acquisition systems, allowing design engineers to extend front-end designs across multiple data acquisition applications for a variety of test and measurement applications, including oscilloscopes, active probes, and high-frequency data acquisition systems.

The device replaces complex and expensive ASIC-based design implementations by integrating discrete component features in a single chip, resulting in a 10-fold increase in bandwidth compared to FET input amplifiers. This performance allows design engineers to take advantage of higher signal throughput with minimal input fixation time, resulting in faster throughput and improved high-frequency signal measurement accuracy. The device is a high input impedance (HI-Z), open-loop, unit-gain buffer amplifier with a JFET input stage that provides the industry's widest bandwidth, capable of supporting frequency bandwidths up to 3.1GHz.

BUF802RGTEVM evaluation module, which provides two separate signal configurations: a composite loop with a precision amplifier and a separate BUF802 buffer. The device provides a single or split power supply and occupancy for all analog inputs and outputs of the SMA connector. In addition, the layout is optimized to reduce parasitic coupling and provide the best signal fidelity across frequencies.
