A sync input to the oscillator enables the slaving of several units or the synchronization of a single device to an external system clock. A single resistor placed between the CT and discharge terminals can adjust the dead time over a large range. Additionally, these devices have internal soft-start circuitry, necessitating only an external timing capacitor.
